Spring Moon Ceremony

What is a Spring Moon Ceremony?

In many cultures around the world, a menstruating woman was considered sacred and powerful. The Spring Moon ceremony celebrates a girls' first menstrual cycle or menarche, by bringing together mothers and daughters to honour their initiation into womanhood.

Marking this sacred rite of passage of our girls allows them to feel celebrated and seen in their slow becoming to womanhood. Consciously sharing  this rite of passage as a family and community  will make your daughters’ village experience it in powerful and magical ways too.

My Offering

During the mother/daughter ceremony we sit in circle, light a mother candle, and embrace with joy and devotion your daughter's slow journey towards the rite of passage of menarche. Every aspect of the gathering involves celebrating and honoring the initiation towards maidenhood.

My role is to create a sacred and safe container, to guide and support the experiential embodiment of the slow process of transformation of your daughters from children to maidens. By marking, embracing, and celebrating this moment in time we are guiding them into a joyous, curious, and self-loving journey towards womanhood.

We will sit in circle and witness with love, joy, and devotion the change in season your daughters are slowly experiencing. We will learn and talk about the wheel of life and how it impacts and support us in our journey through our life. Moon, menstrual, nature cycles and all their gifts and superpowers.  There will be space for grounding, storytelling, deep listening, drum journey, and clay meditation.

All offerings include:

An initial 30-minute Zoom consultation to meet and learn a little bit about your daughter and her special group of girlfriends and mums.

We will discuss your wishes and intentions for the ceremony, and I will guide you in all that is needed to make it happen in the space you are providing so that we can together create the most beautiful and nurturing experience for your daughters and for you on the day.

"We felt so blessed to have Akua facilitate our mother/daughter circle. Her attention to detail and thoughtfulness in the planning was amazing. But it was Akua’s heart, wisdom and presence that was truly beautiful. She held a magical, sacred space for us to feel held and safe. The honouring of girls/women and our journeys is something she is so passionate about, and it was woven throughout the ceremony. As mothers, we had the time and space to reflect and share. It was such an empowering experience and one which my daughter and I will treasure forever. These powerful rituals need to be reignited into our society and I cannot recommend Akua highly enough. She is a true gem.” Claire Wilson (Blue Mountains, NSW)
